- 2 oz apple brandy
- .75 oz lemon juice
- .75 oz orange juice
- .5 oz maple syrup
- Ice
- Lemon twist (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place glass in freezer or fill with ice to chill.
- Add ice to a cocktail shaker.
- Add the apple brandy, lemon juice, orange juice and maple syrup.
- Shake to until chilled.
- Remove ice from glass (if used).
- Strain mixture into glass.
- Garnish with lemon twist.

Fun fact: This cocktail is a twist on the popular cocktail, the Tom Collins.

- 2 oz bourbon or whisky
- 1 oz lemon juice
- .75 oz simple syrup
- 4 oz seltzer
- Ice
- Lemon slice (for garnish)
Instructions
- Fill glass with ice.
- Add bourbon (or whiskey), lemon juice, and simple syrup to glass.
- Top with seltzer.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with lemon slice.

Fun fact: 711 was the code used for Washington in the Culper (Spy) Code Book.

Ingredients
- 2 oz spiced rum
- 1 oz sherry
- 1 tsp. brown sugar
- 5-6 Amaro cherries
- 3 oz cola
- Ice
Instructions
- Add brown sugar and amaro cherries to glass.
- Use a cocktail muddler to mash cherries into the sugar.
- Add rum and sherry to the glass and stir gently.
- Add ice.
- Top with cola.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 8.
Fun fact: The old fashioned was Harry S. Truman’s favorite cocktail.

Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon or whiskey
- .5 oz simple syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- Orange peel
- Large ice cube
Instructions
- Add a large ice cube to the glass, followed by the whiskey, simple syrup and bitters.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Twist the orange peel over the drink to express the oils.
- Garnish with the peel.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 7.
Fun fact: The Orange Blossom was a favorite of Ronald Regan.

- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 1 oz orange juice
- Orange wedge (for garnish)
- Ice
Instructions
- Place glass in freezer to chill, or add ice cubes to glass.
- Pour gin, vermouth, and orange juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled.
- Strain into chilled glass (remove ice if used).
- Garnish with orange wedge.

Fun fact: The drink gets its name from the long, curled lemon twist that is placed inside the glass.

- 2 oz bourbon
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 12 oz ginger ale
- 1 lemon
- Ice
Instructions
- Using a pairing knife, carefully peel the lemon in one long spiral.
- Coil the lemon around the edges of the glass, leaving the end hanging over the lip.
- Add ice.
- Add bourbon and bitters.
- Top with ginger ale.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 6.
Fun fact: The original recipe for this cocktail didn’t use exact measurements, rather, glass measurements such as “1/2 glass of brandy”.

- Juice of 1 small lemon
- Champagne
- Pineapple slice
- Ice
Instructions
- Fill glass with ice.
- Add brandy, curacao and lemon juice.
- Top with champagne.
- Stir gently.
- Garnish with pineapple slice.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 6.
Fun fact: The Fish House Punch can also be served hot by substituting the water with tea.
Glass used: Tea Cup
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 lemons, peeled
- 4 cups water (or black tea)
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 4 cups dark rum
- 2 cups cognac
- 1/2 cup peach brandy
- Ice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add sugar and lemon peels, rub together to release the citrus oils into the sugar.
- Allow to infuse for 30 minutes.
- Dissolve sugar with warm water or tea.
- Add rum, cognac, lemon juice, and peach brandy, stir to mix.
- Allow to chill (if serving cold).
- To serve, add ice to cups and ladle cocktail into each glass.
- Garnish with lemon wheel.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 5.
Fun fact: Soaking the fruit in the alcohol before adding the wine makes this cocktail extra boozy!
Glass used: Stemless Wine Glass
Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/2 cup orange liqueur
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 orange
- 1 apple
- 1/2 cup berries
- 12 oz seltzer
- Ice
Instructions
- Chill wine and seltzer (separately).
- Thinly slice the orange and apple.
- Add apple slices, orange slices and berries to a large pitcher.
- Add sugar, brandy, orange liqueur, and orange juice to the pitcher.
- Stir the mixture together, cover, and place in refrigerator to chill for one hour.
- After one hour add the red wine to the pitcher, stir, cover, and let chill for another hour.
- Give the mixture a final stir before serving.
- Fill glasses with ice and add mixture to glass, leaving room at the top.
- Top with seltzer and fruit from the pitcher.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season Two, Episode 5.
Fun fact: The drink is said to get its name from leaning on a fence while intoxicated.

- Pour rum (or bourbon) and bitters into the glass.

- Chill the beer mug by placing in the freezer or filling with ice.
- Add rum, cognac, lime juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled.
- Strain mixture into chilled mug (remove ice if used).
- Add beer to mug and stir gently to combine.
- Top with nutmeg.

- .5 oz lime juice
- .5 oz simple syrup or 2 tsp brown sugar
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Pinch of cinnamon

- Add rum, water, lime juice and simple syrup (or brown sugar) to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled.
- Add ice to a rocks glass.
- Strain mixture over the ice.
- Add nutmeg and cinnamon as garnish.

Fun fact: Also called the “Boozy Dark Delight” this simple beer cocktail is made with just three ingredients.

- .8 oz orange liqueur

- Add a few ice cubes into the glass.
- Pour orange liqueur and whiskey over the ice.

- Garnish with chocolate shavings (optional).

- 1 oz coffee liquor
- 1 oz cooled espresso
- 3 espresso beans (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place glass in freezer or fill with ice cubes to chill.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add vodka, coffee liquor and espresso.
- Shake well for 30 seconds, or until the mixture is cold.
- Get the chilled glass (remove ice if used).
- Strain cocktail into the glass.
- Garnish with espresso beans.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season One, Episode 3.
Fun fact: The martini is stirred not shaken.

- 2.5 oz gin or vodka
- .5 oz dry vermouth
- 1-2 dashes of orange bitters
- Lemon twist (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place glass in freezer or fill with ice cubes to chill.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, gin (or vodka), and orange bitters.
- Use a bar spoon and mix for 30 seconds until the mixture is cold.
- Get the chilled glass (remove ice if used), add a splash of vermouth and quickly swirl around the glass then discard.
- Strain cocktail into the glass.
- Twist the lemon peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season One, Episode 3.
Fun fact: The term “bee’s knees” means “the best” of something.

Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- .75 oz fresh lemon juice
- .75 oz honey syrup
- Lemon twist (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place glass in freezer or fill with ice cubes to chill.
- Dissolve honey syrup with equal parts warm water and stir until dissolved. Let cool.
- Combine the gin, lemon juice, and honey syrup in a cocktail shaker.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
- Shake until the outside of the shaker is very cold.
- Get the chilled glass (remove ice if used) and strain the mixture into glass.
- Twist the lemon peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.
- Enjoy while listening to History Straight Up: Season One, Episode 2.

- 1 sugar cube (or .25 oz simple syrup)
- 3-4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
- Lemon peel for garnish
Instructions
- Chill the serving glass by placing in freezer or filling with ice.
- Place the sugar cube and bitters into a cocktail shaker, pouring the bitters over the sugar cube.
- Add whiskey and ice to the shaker, and stir with a bar spoon to dilute the sugar cube (about 30 seconds).
- Get the chilled glass (remove ice if used) and pour the absinthe in, swirl to coat the sides of the glass and discard the rest.
- Strain mixture into the glass, leaving the ice in the shaker.
- Garnish with the lemon peel.
